Motorola’s Android 17 beta is now rolling out to mid-range devices beyond the flagship Signature, and beta testers are surfacing a long list of UI changes that Motorola’s own changelog left largely undocumented. The update also quietly confirms the existence of the unannounced Motorola Edge 70 Neo through an official beta-registration listing on Lenovo’s community forum for India — the first public acknowledgment of the device.
Motorola Edge 70 Neo Confirmed via Beta Listing
A beta-registration thread on the Lenovo community forum specifically names the Motorola Edge 70 Neo for India, confirming the device exists ahead of any formal announcement. Previous Neo models — the Edge 60 Neo (6.36-inch display) and Edge 50 Neo (6.4-inch) — have been compact, budget-friendly phones, and the Edge 70 Neo is expected to follow the same template. No specs have been disclosed, but its inclusion in the Android 17 beta program suggests it may ship with Android 17 out of the box.
The beta program has also expanded to the Razr 70 Plus (EMEA), Razr+ 2026, Edge 70 Pro (India, EMEA, LATAM), Edge 70 Plus (EMEA), Moto G Power 2026 and 2025, Moto G 2026 and 2025, and Moto G Play 2026. The update package runs roughly 5GB.
Android 17 Beta Features on Motorola Devices

- Live Updates redesigned: Previously pinned to the left side of the status bar, Live Updates (Motorola’s take on live activity notifications) now wrap around the camera cutout in the center, similar in concept to Apple’s Dynamic Island. They now support more apps including calls, music, and the flashlight.
- Qira AI assistant: A new built-in AI assistant branded Qira, with cloud connectivity via Smart Connect.
- App drawer overhaul: Folders now use a 3×3 grid instead of 2×2, app titles are removed, all icons are tinted, and background blur is improved. A dedicated “Create folder” button has been added.
- Quick settings and status bar: Resizable quick tiles, redesigned Wi-Fi/cellular/battery icons, and a new “Classic Control Center” combining notifications with quick settings shortcuts.
- New gestures: Screenshots now use a three-finger swipe down (replacing the old three-finger hold), and split screen triggers with a three-finger swipe up (replacing the swipe back-and-forth gesture users found awkward).
- Settings page: Redesigned to look closer to Pixel’s Settings UI, with a cleaner layout.
- Lock screen: New clock faces with expanded typography and style options, though no depth effect.
