Find Hub Can Finally Remove Old Bluetooth Headphones From Your List

Google’s Find Hub app on Android has quietly picked up a “Remove from Find Hub” option for Bluetooth headphones, earbuds and speakers — the one category of gear that, until now, stayed on your device list essentially forever. If your Find Hub list is padded out with every pair of buds you have ever paired and then sold, lost or thrown away, you can finally clear them out.

What actually changed in Find Hub

This is a narrower fix than the headlines around it suggest, and the distinction matters. Phones, tablets and smartwatches already dropped off the Find Hub list once they were factory reset. Dedicated trackers — Moto Tag, Pebblebee and the rest — already had a removal button tucked into their per-device settings. Bluetooth audio was the gap. Pair a set of headphones once, and they sat in Find Hub indefinitely with no way to evict them.

9to5Google’s Ben Schoon, who spotted the change on 28 July, reports that recent updates to the Android app have added the removal shortcut across every audio device he checked — Sony headphones, Pixel Buds, Nothing earbuds, JBL speakers and OnePlus Buds among them. It arrived without fanfare, in what Schoon describes as “recent silent updates” to the app.

How to remove Bluetooth headphones from Find Hub

The awkward part is that the option is not in a consistent place. Where it sits appears to vary by device, with no obvious logic to it, so you may have to hunt:

  1. Open the Find Hub app on your Android phone.
  2. Tap the Bluetooth headphones, earbuds or speaker you want to clear off the list.
  3. Look for Remove from Find Hub on that first screen. On some devices — an older pair of Sony LinkBuds, for example — it is right there.
  4. If it isn’t, tap the settings icon and scroll to the bottom of that screen. On a pair of Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones, that is where it lives.

Based on comments on the community post that first flagged the change, the option appears to be widely rolled out already rather than limited to a small test group. If you don’t see it yet, make sure the Find Hub app is updated from the Play Store and check again in a few days.

Why this is a privacy fix, not just tidying

It is tempting to file this under housekeeping, and the fact that it shipped unannounced suggests that is roughly how Google sees it too. It’s worth being blunter than that. Every entry in Find Hub is a device Google associates with your account, and for a pair of earbuds you sold on two years ago, that association is doing nothing for you and everything for the record. Being unable to delete an item you no longer own is a bad default in any account-linked service, and the fact that it took this long — Find Hub launched under that name in 2025, and its predecessors go back to 2013 — says something about how far down the list account hygiene sits.

The practical advice is simple: open the app, work down the list, and remove anything you no longer have. If you have already been through Find Hub’s tracker settings, this is the same exercise for the gear that used to be exempt from it. And if you are auditing what Google knows about your devices anyway, it’s a reasonable moment to look at what else Android now surfaces about your hardware by default.
