Google has rolled out a fix for the battery drain on Pixel phones. Several users had complained that they were experiencing heating issues on their mobiles over the past few days.

Google fixes battery drain on Pixel phones

The problems came to light a few days ago when a redditor said that they were experiencing problems with their Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 6 and 6 Pro, all of which were on the Verizon mobile network. They said that the Google app was using 50% of the phone’s battery, and that the other devices had drained fully without any use. The phones were also reportedly quite hot to the touch, even while idle.

Users also said that they were unable to charge their Pixel. Some people had claimed that this could have been due to a bug in the recent security patch that had been released a few days ago.

Google says it has fixed the battery drain on Pixel phones

A community manager on Google Pixel’s subreddit stated that the Mountain View company had received many reports about battery drain on Pixel phones. The developers had investigated the overheating problem which had led to the battery draining quickly, and discovered an issue in the Google app’s backend. Apparently, there was some unintentional change that had been done, which had caused the app to be buggy.

Google says that the issue was fixed with a server-side patch, and that no user action is required to address the problem. The user who had originally reported the issues said that they were no longer facing the overheating and battery drain on their phones.
