OnePlus 5 is rumored to be made official in second half of 2017. As per rumors, the company has skipped OnePlus 4 naming ( skipping the “four” moniker as it is considered unlucky in China) by launching OnePlus 5 as their next flagship device after OnePlus 3T. The first confirmation for the “OnePlus 5” name came from the China’s Radio Regulation Authority / Wireless authority where a new smartphone model from OnePlus appeared with the name of OnePlus 5 and Model number A5000.
Today, two images of an alleged silicon case for OnePlus 5 have surfaced on the web, originating from Weibo China. The silicon case cover suggests a dual camera setup at the back as a big slot is visible at the top of the back cover aligned horizontally at the top. The design of the slot clearly indicates a dual camera setup, though some other rumors have indicated a vertical dual camera setup just above the OnePlus branding with a design similar to OnePlus 3T. If these alleged Silicon cases for OnePlus 5 are credible, then the rumors of a vertical dual camera setup is not true or vice-versa.
The back cover or the silicon case has no slot for the fingerprint sensor which suggests that there is no fingerprint sensor at the back as was the case with OnePlus 3T, instead it may be moved to the front display. We are not sure what OnePlus plans with fingerprint sensor i.e. whether it integrates it with a Home button at front or uses an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor with the display?
As per rumors, OnePlus 5 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch 2K display (1080 x 2048 pixels) display, powered by Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM. In terms of camera, it is rumored to comes with a 23 MP sensor at back with features like optical image stabilisation, zoom, fast flash etc. along with a 16 MP front shooter for selfies,while the phone is expected to be just 7 mm thin with slim bezels. Today’s rumor indicates a Dual camera setup at the back and at the moment, we are not sure about the camera sensors of the dual camera module. The fingerprint sensor is expected to be present at the back panel instead of being integrated into the front display or the home button.
