As expected, Xiaomi has just announced Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A devices in China. The company has launched two variants of Redmi 4 just as they did with Redmi 3S i.e. Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime. Both the Redmi 4 variants come with some common features / specs but vary a lot in terms of hardware specification too. Both the devices come with metal unibody designs, 2.5D curved glass displays, hybrid dual-SIM slots, fingerprint sensor on the rear panel and run on same operating system i.e. MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Both the devices are backed up by a 4100 mAh battery. Both devices come with a 13 MP main rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5-lens system, PDAF, dual-LED flash and a 5MP front shooter with f/2.2 aperture for selfies.

Redmi 4 sports a 5.0 inch 720p display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor along with 2 GB of RAM. It comes with 16 GB internal storage. Whereas, Redmi 4 Prime variant sports a 5.0 inch Full HD 1080p display instead of 720p HD display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 3 GB of RAM instead of Snapdragon 430 and 2 GB of RAM. The prime variant comes with 32 GB of internal storage instead of 16 GB internal storage.

Redmi 4A on the other hand sports a 5-inch full-HD display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC and 2 GB of RAM. It comes with 16 GB of internal storage along with expandable storage support via microSD card up. Rest of the specs are same as Redmi 4. It is backed by a battery of 3120 mAh instead of 4000 mAh. Redmi 4A appears to be a variant specific to Chinese network and there is no fingerprint sensor.

Redmi 4 is priced at 699 Yuan (Rs. 7,000 or $104), whereas the prime variant is priced at 899 Yuan (~Rs. 9,000 or $135) and Redmi 4A is priced at 499 Yuan (~Rs. 5,000 or $74). All these devices are available in China and we have no information on when Xiaomi plans to launch them in countries such as India.
