Few days back we reported on the road-map to ASUS Zenfone 2 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Zenfone smartphones and few other devices. As per road-map, ASUS is scheduled to roll out Android Marshmallow update in second quarter of 2016, i.e. sometime between April to June, but now ASUS says that Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade will be rolled out in March 2016 itself i.e. starting tomorrow, instead of 2nd Quarter.
Following ASUS smartphone models will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade in March 2016:
- ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML)
- ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
- ZenFone 2 Laser ( ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE601KL)
- ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
- ZenFone Max (ZC550KL)
- ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)
This update will add apps such as Google Messenger, Calendar & Gmail as they will replace three ZenUI apps—ASUS Messenger, ASUS Mail and ASUS Calendar.
As per press release, other products will receive the upgrade April 2016 on wards. We have reached out to ASUS to know which devices fall in this category and whether this upgrade will be available to first generation Asus Zenfone devices i.e Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 or not. We will update you as and when we her more about it.
