Meizu has announced that it has released the Flyme OS 5.0 OTA Update for the MX5 in India.
Here are the changes that the update brings:
Home screen:
The OS now has floating notifications which will be displayed without interrupting other apps. The update also adds acouple of multitasking options, one is the new card-type multi-task lists which can be long pressed to lock individual apps.
And using this list, two apps can be run at the same time on the screen in a multi-window option called the Multi-screen mode. The display size of some of the apps can be adjusted as well. Icons on the homescreen can be sorted by selecting icons to be moved to different pages or directories and long pressing the Home screen and selecting Sorting Icons. You can also sort icons by shaking the device.
System:
Flyme OS 5.0 for the Meizu MX5 brings a new boot animation, featuring the Taj Mahal and also a ringtone dedicated to India. Users can now view the notification panel to see which app is using the GPS, and also disable it from the panel. The panel displays all the toggles, even when unread notifications are present, to do so just pull the status bar to expand it.
The update optimizes the boot speed of the device, and better icons for the calendar, messages and memos.
Settings:
The Settings page has been revamped for better function grouping, and even supports a search function which allows users to find options quickly. The Battery management page, has been tweaked to deliver software and hardware power consumption separately.
Volume options can be managed from the Settings > Sound and Vibration > Volume. It is also easier now, to share a Wi-Fi network, simply by using a QR code from the Wi-Fi hotspot Settings > WLAN. You can now set default applications for specific categories from the Settings > Apps > Default apps menu. Colour blindness or amblyopia mode can be enabled from Settings > Accessibility > Developer options > Simulated colour space.
Security:
Apps can now be disabled to prevent them from running in the background to speed up the phone. A new whitelist option now prevents app caches, redundant APKs, and app residuals. On the other hand, you can now schedule the cleaning, with the new Scan and clear option.
Users can check the data usage more easily, thanks to a new toggle in the Data > Settings, enabling which will display the data usage on the notification bar. A new quick scan and one-key optimization allows users to check the health status of the phone, and also allows fixing problems easily. The OS will now detect fake apps to prevent malware, and also offers enhanced permission management for privacy.
