SwiftKey Keyboard receives an update focussing on performance & bug fixes

SwiftKey have released a bug fixing update for their awesome keyboard.

SwiftKey 4.4.2 Update

The update also focuses on performance, eliminating RAM issues that you may have run into.

Here is the full change-log for the update:

  • Several memory and performance issues resolved
  • Ice theme uses less RAM now
  • Some force closes when loading languages
  • Other force closes affecting different parts of the app
  • Keyboard no longer jumps after unlocking the device with a password
  • The bottom row is no longer hidden by the menu bar on some Motorola and Meizu devices (if you are experiencing this issue on other devices, we would really like to know so please tell us at support.swiftkey.net)
  • Fixed some issues with SwiftKey Cloud sync

The update is already live on Google Play, so you can download it immediately. Amazon users will have to wait for a while, though SwiftKey have already published it, the update has to be approved by the Appstore.

The beta version of SwiftKey was updated a few days ago, and brings in support for Emojis.

SwiftKey Emoji Beta

The beta update already fixed the RAM issues, following which the stable version received the tweaks and  fixes today.

  • Secondary characters on the top letter row modified when number row is enabled
  • Redesigned emoji UI including new space and backspace bar, swipe gestures to switch emoji tab and changes to how the layout works under the hood
  • Fixed performance issues when switching between tabs
  • Emoji now appear larger
  • Fixed issue where emoji still predicted even when disabled
  • General memory problems fixed
  • Fixed issue where Ice theme used extra RAM
  • Fixed keyboard freezes
  • Fixed issues when syncing
  • Fixed problem with Trending Phrases not updating
  • Fixed incorrect vibration feedback when scrolling

You can download the SwiftKey Beta for free from their website. The beta version will expire after a time which has been set by the developers.
