The OnePlus 16’s 9,000mAh battery is now officially confirmed. The figure has been circulating as a leak for months, and androidpure has reported it twice on that basis. It is no longer a leak. OnePlus executive Li Jie Louis confirmed the capacity in a Weibo post, as reported by Android Authority. The phone launches in China on October 12.

What 9,000mAh Actually Changes
The number matters because of what it replaces. The OnePlus 15 shipped with a 7,300mAh battery, so this is a 1,700mAh jump in a single generation. That is not a rounding-error increase. It is nearly a quarter more capacity.
The gap against this year’s Samsung flagships is wider still. The Galaxy S26 carries 4,300mAh and the Galaxy S26 Ultra 5,000mAh. That makes the OnePlus 16 a little over twice the former and nearly double the latter. Android Authority estimates the pack should deliver around three days of typical use, extrapolating from the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max’s 9,210mAh battery. That is the outlet’s estimate rather than a OnePlus claim. Real endurance will depend on how hard the 185Hz display is pushed.
What Else Has Been Reported
The battery is now company-confirmed. Several other specs are still at the previously-reported stage rather than stated by OnePlus itself, so treat the list below accordingly.
- Display: 185Hz refresh rate, as previously reported
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, per earlier reports
- Cameras: 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide and 50MP 3x telephoto
- Wireless charging: 50W, with bypass charging
- Wired charging: no official figure as of October 2; a regulatory filing earlier pointed to 100W
The wired-charging gap is the one worth watching. A 9,000mAh battery takes meaningfully longer to fill than a 7,300mAh one at the same wattage. The charging speed OnePlus eventually announces will decide whether the extra capacity feels like a convenience or a nightly chore. Our earlier pieces cover what has been confirmed about the OnePlus 16 camera system and the October 12 launch and 185Hz display.
Where You Can Buy It
Not in Europe or the United States. Android Authority reports that the OnePlus 16 will not be sold in either region, following OnePlus’s exit from those markets. Readers there should plan around import channels or a different phone entirely.
The China launch is set for October 12, with design and colour options already confirmed and pre-orders open.
