T-Mobile is raising its Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee again, effective October 12, 2026. Voice lines move from $4.49 per line each month to $5.49, an increase of $1.00. Mobile internet lines go from $2.10 per line to $2.60, an increase of $0.50. It is the third increase to this charge since 2025 and the second in 2026 alone. The fee applies to lines on plans where taxes and fees are billed separately.
What T-Mobile’s Telco Recovery Fee Change Says
The new figures appear on T-Mobile’s own “What’s impacting your bill” support page. The change was first spotted by Droid Life on September 28. The page sets out the voice-line split and the new amount in plain terms.
Voice lines: $4.49 per line every month (Regulatory Programs $0.50; Telco Recovery $3.99). Increasing to $5.49 per line every month, effective October 12, 2026.
Mobile internet lines carry a smaller version of the same charge. That line item currently splits into $0.12 for Regulatory Programs and $1.98 for Telco Recovery. The combined charge rises to $2.60 on the same October 12 date.
Three Increases, One Unchanged Plan Price
The voice-line fee has climbed in three steps, none of which required a plan change:
- April 2025: $3.49 to $3.99 per line, per month
- January 2026: $3.99 to $4.49 per line, per month
- October 12, 2026: $4.49 to $5.49 per line, per month
Droid Life argues that this is how a bill rises even when the plan itself does not change. Its point is that once a carrier moves charges outside the advertised plan price, those charges can climb on their own schedule.
The arithmetic is worth doing on your own account. A family with four voice lines on a plan that bills fees separately pays $17.96 a month in this fee today. From October 12 that becomes $21.96, or $4 more each month. Over a year that is $48 extra, on top of whatever the plan costs.
Looked at another way, those four lines will hand over roughly $263 a year in a charge billed on top of the plan price. Nothing about the service changes. The number simply gets larger for each line that carries the fee.
Part of a Wider Pattern
This is not the only T-Mobile cost change of recent months. In September the carrier introduced a $5 per month iPhone Handoff fee. Before that it reworked device financing with the move to 36-month equipment instalment plans.
Each change is small on its own. Together they raise what a customer actually pays without the advertised plan price moving. Anyone who wants to know their October total should first check whether the bill lists this line item. If it does, multiply the new amount by the number of lines on the account.
