Apple has set September 14 as the release date for iOS 27, arriving as a free update the same week as its new iPhone 18 Pro lineup. watchOS 27 lands the same day, and Apple’s redesigned Siri, called Siri AI, starts rolling out as an English-only beta, with several major languages missing at launch.
Who Gets watchOS 27
Apple’s own release lists the exact eligibility bar: watchOS 27 works on the Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch SE 3, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later. It also requires an iPhone 11 or later, or an iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), running iOS 27. Older Apple Watch models, including the Series 8 and original SE, are left out of this update.
Apple Intelligence itself ships with iOS 27 and watchOS 27 in 16 languages on day one: English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, simplified and traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
Siri AI Launches as a Beta, English Only
Siri AI, Apple’s rebuilt assistant powered by Apple Intelligence, rolls out September 14 as a beta limited to English. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish are due to follow in October, according to Apple’s release. IT之家, reporting live from the keynote, said Siri AI supports Chinese language settings but will not be available to users in mainland China at launch, a distinction outside what Apple’s own release text specifies.
On the watch, Siri AI gets a dedicated modular watch face for quicker access and can now hold ongoing conversations rather than resetting after each request, according to Apple’s Watch Series 12 release. A new Siri app on iPhone and Watch keeps a synced history of past conversations across devices via iCloud.
