Gemini’s Daily Brief feature no longer requires a paid Google AI subscription in the US. The feature, which previously sat behind the Plus, Pro, or Ultra tiers, became free for eligible personal accounts last week, according to Google’s own support documentation and reporting from 9to5Google.
Daily Brief generates a running list of what needs a person’s attention each morning, built from their Gmail, Google Calendar, and past Gemini chats. Google’s help page describes two main sections: one surfacing timely, actionable items, and a second focused on longer-term goals with suggested next steps.
What it actually takes to turn this on
“Free” here comes with a specific, non-trivial setup. To receive a Daily Brief, Google’s own eligibility page requires a person to be 18 or older and located in the US, signed in with a personal Google Account rather than a work, school, or supervised one, and eligible for Personal Intelligence with Google Workspace connected and Memory turned on. The feature is also English-only for now.
That is the real trade being offered. Dropping the subscription wall does not remove the access requirement — it just changes what a person hands over to get the feature. Personal Intelligence, Workspace connection, and Memory together mean Gemini is reading Gmail and Calendar content on an ongoing basis, not making a one-time request. Anyone turning this on should treat it as a data-access decision first and a convenience feature second.

That rollout hedge matters because Google has not committed to a date when every eligible US user, let alone users outside the US, will see the toggle appear.
How to check if you have it
- Open the Gemini app and go to Settings, then Personal Intelligence
- Confirm Memory is turned on
- Turn on Google Workspace under Connected Apps
- If eligible, a Daily Brief toggle appears at the bottom of the Personal Intelligence tab
- Once enabled, Daily Brief appears in the Gemini app’s side menu, or can be requested by saying “Brief me” during a Gemini Live session
What’s still unconfirmed
Google’s own help page lists only two Daily Brief sections. Some outlet coverage has described a third “FYI” section, but that detail does not appear anywhere in Google’s documentation, so it isn’t included here as confirmed. Google also has not said when Daily Brief will expand to other countries or languages.
