Samsung’s newest budget phone, the Galaxy A07s, ships with a promise most phones twice its price don’t get: six major Android version upgrades and six years of security updates. That commitment, stated on Samsung’s own product page, puts a sub-$200 device on the same update runway as Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S and Z series.
Pricing and Availability
Samsung has launched the Galaxy A07s in the Levant region, starting in Jordan with a single 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant priced at JOD 119 (roughly $167), according to SamMobile. It comes in Black, Light Violet, and Green. Samsung has not announced India, US, or EU availability or pricing for the A07s as of this writing.
Six Years of Updates on a Budget Phone
Samsung’s Galaxy A07s product page states plainly:
“Galaxy A07s will be supported with six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates from the first global launch date.”
That’s Samsung’s own documentation, not a spokesperson’s claim, and it’s worded around the phone’s “first global launch date” rather than any single country’s release — which matters here, since the A07s so far exists only as a regional Levant launch with no confirmed global rollout date yet. The same page also carries a standard caveat: “The OS upgrade and security update policies specified above are subject to change.”
Samsung has been extending long-term support down into its cheapest phones for a couple of years now, but six years of both OS upgrades and security patches on a device priced under $200 is still a stronger commitment than most budget Android phones get anywhere in the world. Most competing budget phones from other OEMs top out at three or four years of security updates, with OS upgrades often capped even lower. A buyer picking up an A07s today, even at Levant pricing, is being sold a phone that Samsung intends to keep updated well into 2032.
