Poco has launched the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra globally, starting at $699 and $799 respectively. Both phones are now listed on Poco’s own global site, as the F9 Pro and the F9 Ultra. They share a 200MP main camera, a 185Hz AMOLED panel and 100W wired charging. The gap between them is wider than the $100 entry price suggests, and it is not only about screen size.

Poco is also running Early Bird pricing at launch, which brings the F9 Pro’s entry model to $649 and the F9 Ultra’s to $729. The euro Early Bird figures published so far do not track the dollar ones cleanly across every tier, so treat the discount on your own storefront as the number that counts. As of 1 September, no India pricing has surfaced in any source we could reach.
What separates the Ultra from the Pro
The obvious differences are size and memory. The F9 Ultra has a 6.9-inch AMOLED and goes up to 16GB of RAM with 1TB of storage. The F9 Pro has a 6.6-inch panel and stops at 12GB/512GB. Both run at 185Hz with a claimed 4,500 nits peak brightness.
The less obvious difference is the chip, and it is the one worth reading twice. The F9 Ultra ships the full Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The F9 Pro gets the 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series instead, a variant with one fewer GPU slice on its Adreno 840, per Qualcomm’s own documentation as read by GSMArena. A $699 phone carrying a quietly cut-down graphics bin is exactly the kind of thing a spec sheet is designed not to tell you.
The camera split follows the same pattern. Both use the 200MP main sensor with 1/1.56-inch optics. The Ultra pairs it with a 50MP periscope telephoto and a 50MP ultrawide. The Pro makes do with a 2.5x telephoto and an 8MP ultrawide — the sort of ultrawide that flatters a bullet list rather than a photo.
Specifications
Both phones carry an IP68 rating, and Poco lists Sound by Bose tuning on both product pages. Both ship on HyperOS 3, based on Android 16.

Software support is the open question
Poco is promising four updates on both phones. What that phrase means is not spelled out — four Android version upgrades and four years of support are very different commitments, and no security-patch term has been stated at all. Ask before you buy, particularly at the $1,199 top configuration.
There is a second timing problem. These phones launch on Android 16 in the same week Samsung is handing Android 17 betas to phones released a year ago. Buying a new flagship that starts a full version behind eats into whatever the update promise turns out to be.
