One UI 9 Beta Opens to Galaxy S25 Series, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7

Samsung has opened the One UI 9 beta programme to six more Galaxy phones. The Android 17-based build was previously limited to the Galaxy S26 series. From this month it also reaches the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 FE. Samsung confirmed the expansion in a post on its own Samsung Mobile Press site dated 1 September.

Which Galaxy phones are eligible for the One UI 9 beta

Samsung’s list covers its 2025 flagship line in full, foldables included:

  • Galaxy S25 series — Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25 FE
  • Galaxy Z series — Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7

One 2025 flagship is missing from that list: the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung does not mention it, and Samsung does not say why. That is an omission rather than a stated exclusion, so it is still unclear whether the Edge joins the beta later or skips straight to the stable release. Anyone who bought the Edge should treat the beta as unavailable for now rather than delayed.

Where the beta is available, and when

Samsung says the programme “will be available in select markets, including India, Korea, the U.K. and the U.S.” The word doing the work there is including. Those four are named examples, not a closed list, so other markets may follow without a separate announcement. Samsung attaches a footnote to the same sentence: “Availability and timing may vary by market.”

On timing, Samsung’s own wording is that the programme rolls out “starting in September” — the opening date, not a promise that every eligible phone can enrol today. GSMArena reports that enrolment is already open on the other Galaxy S25 models in India. SamMobile expects the S25 series to be first in the queue among the six. If the banner has not appeared on your phone yet, that is normal this early.

How to sign up

Enrolment runs through the Samsung Members app, as it has for previous One UI betas. Install Samsung Members from the Galaxy Store or Play Store, sign in with the Samsung account already tied to the phone, then tap the One UI beta banner on the app’s home screen. If no banner is showing, the beta has not opened in your market yet.

Worth saying plainly: this is pre-release software on a phone you rely on. Early One UI betas routinely ship with battery drain, broken banking apps and camera bugs, and rolling back to stable normally means a full data wipe. Back up before you enrol, not after something breaks. If you would rather wait, we covered what One UI 9 changes about moving to a Galaxy phone in more detail.

What happens next

Samsung normally pushes several beta builds over a few weeks before it signs off on a stable release. The Galaxy S26 series, which started this beta cycle back in May, has been through a long run of them. On that pattern, a stable One UI 9 rollout for the S25 series and the Fold7 and Flip7 is a matter of weeks rather than days. Samsung’s announcement gives no date for it.
