Google TV Streamer Jumps to $149.99 as Nest Camera Prices Rise Too

Google has quietly repriced most of its home hardware in the US. The Google TV Streamer now costs $149.99 on the Google Store, up from the $99.99 it launched at in 2024. On the same day, four of the five Nest cameras and doorbells still on sale went up too. There was no announcement, no new model and no hardware change — the same boxes simply cost more than they did on Sunday.

Google TV Streamer is now $149.99

A live check of the Google Store’s US Google TV Streamer page returns $149.99, with financing quoted at $12.50 a month. That is a $50 jump on a two-year-old streaming box with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. In percentage terms it is the steepest increase in the batch: 50% over the launch price.

The increase does not appear to be worldwide yet. Google’s UK store still lists the same Streamer at £99.99 as of today. The change looks, for now, like a US repricing rather than a global one.

9to5Google, which spotted the change first, reports that Best Buy has matched the new $149.99 figure while some other retailers were still selling at the old price. That gap tends to close quickly once existing stock clears, so treat any lower listing as leftover inventory rather than a lasting price.

Nest camera and doorbell prices in the US

The Nest increases are smaller in dollars but land across almost the whole line. These are the current Google Store prices, each confirmed on the live product page, against the previous prices reported by 9to5Google:

  • Nest Cam (battery, indoor or outdoor) — now $199.99, previously $179.99 (+$20, about 11%)
  • Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 3rd gen) — now $129.99, previously $99.99 (+$30, about 30%)
  • Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen) — now $199.99, previously $179.99 (+$20, about 11%)
  • Nest Doorbell (battery) — now $199.99, previously $179.99 (+$20, about 11%)
  • Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 2nd gen) — now $199.99, previously $149.99 (+$50, about 33%), per 9to5Google; its Google Store product page currently redirects to the store homepage, so this one could not be checked directly

It is worth doing that arithmetic rather than accepting a single average. The two cheapest cameras took the harshest treatment in percentage terms. The wired Nest Cam Indoor was the obvious entry point into Nest at $99.99, and that entry point no longer exists. Anyone shopping for a first camera now starts $30 higher.

The Nest Cam with Floodlight bundle is unchanged at $279.99, according to 9to5Google, as are the Google Home Speaker at $99.99, both Nest thermostats and the second-generation Nest Hub.

Why prices are going up

Google has not given a reason. 9to5Google’s read is that memory pricing is behind it, pointing to the Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5 as devices already priced under the same pressure. That is the outlet’s inference, not a company statement, and no Google explanation has surfaced so far.

The wider context does fit. Memory is the component the whole industry is fighting over right now, and Samsung has been locking large volumes of its own memory output into long-term supply agreements. Rising component costs have been showing up in finished phone prices for months, as IDC’s latest forecast on average selling prices laid out.

Even so, a buyer is entitled to be blunt about what happened here. The Google TV Streamer of today is the identical product it was last week, running the same software on the same silicon. A 50% increase with no announcement, no changelog and no added value is a straightforward transfer of cost onto the customer. If you were waiting on a sale, the reference point you were waiting for has moved.
