Garmin fenix 9 and fenix 9 Pro Launched: Prices Start at $999.99

Garmin announced the fenix 9 and fenix 9 Pro on 25 August 2026, and the US price ladder runs from $999.99 to $1,199.99 across three case sizes. The headline change is on the Pro side: it is the first fenix watch with a titanium case, it carries Garmin’s largest AMOLED display yet at 1.5 inches on the 51mm model, and satellite plus LTE connectivity is now offered on every Pro size rather than just the big one.

Garmin fenix 9 pricing and availability

Garmin’s press release states the fenix 9 starts at $999.99 and the fenix 9 Pro at $1,099.99, and describes both as available now. Forbes, which published its own breakdown on launch day, reports that the series will be available to order from 28 August — so if your local retailer or Garmin’s own store is not taking orders yet, that is the date to watch.

The full US ladder, as reported by Forbes:

  • fenix 9 (43mm) — $999.99
  • fenix 9 (47mm) — $999.99
  • fenix 9 (51mm) — $1,099.99
  • fenix 9 Pro (43mm) — $1,099.99
  • fenix 9 Pro (47mm) — $1,099.99
  • fenix 9 Pro Solar (47mm) — $1,099.99
  • fenix 9 Pro (51mm) — $1,199.99
  • fenix 9 Pro Solar (51mm) — $1,199.99

That is not the whole bill, though, and this is the part worth reading twice before you buy. Forbes reports that every Pro model is sold as a separate inReach satellite version costing $100 more, and that the satellite and LTE features on it require a subscription starting at $7.99 a month. So satellite connectivity adds $100 to whichever Pro you pick, pushing the top of the range past $1,200, and then bills you monthly for the feature you paid extra to get. Garmin’s own footnotes make the same point in smaller type: an active plan is required, LTE coverage is not available everywhere, and and the company explicitly warns that satellite and SOS on this device have important limitations compared with other inReach devices. If emergency communication is the reason you are buying the Pro, check coverage in the places you actually go before spending the extra $100.

What Garmin says it is for

“fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro are purpose-built for those who want to perform better and venture farther. Athletes can better understand endurance gains and train smarter with advanced stamina metrics, while superior navigation tools help adventurers stay confidently on course. And with the new Garmin Epic feature, activities are turned into stories for users to relive. With these fēnix smartwatches on their wrist, our customers can redefine what they thought possible.”

— Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing, in Garmin’s launch release.

Specifications and what is new

Both watches come in 43mm, 47mm and 51mm. The standard fenix 9 mixes titanium with fiber-reinforced polymer — Forbes notes the side walls are plastic while the bezel and rear plate are metal — while the Pro is titanium throughout, built using a nano-molding process Garmin says keeps the case thin.

  • Display (fenix 9) — AMOLED, which Garmin says is twice as bright as the fenix 8’s, behind a scratch-resistant sapphire lens
  • Display (fenix 9 Pro) — AMOLED up to 3,000 nits; the 51mm gets Garmin’s first 1.5-inch panel, 15% larger than the fenix 8’s without a bigger case
  • Solar models — Pro Solar uses MIP rather than AMOLED, in 47mm and 51mm, and is the only display type compatible with Garmin’s solar charging
  • Battery — up to 29 days in smartwatch mode on the largest fenix 9, up to 31 days on the largest Pro, and up to 57 days on solar models under Garmin’s stated 3-hours-a-day, 50,000-lux assumption
  • Storage and memory — 64GB, double the fenix 8, for roughly twice the maps or up to 7,000 songs; Garmin says RAM is up 50% and map panning is up to 30% faster
  • Durability — leakproof buttons, dive-rated to 40 metres
  • Connectivity (Pro) — built-in satellite and LTE for calls, texts and SOS through the Garmin Response centre, on all three Pro sizes for the first time
  • Flashlight (Pro) — integrated LED gains a green mode to preserve night vision

On the software side, the marquee addition is Garmin Epic, a free Garmin Connect feature that groups activities recorded over days, weeks or months into a single shareable story with photos and performance data. New stamina zones and a stamina curve track how endurance changes over time and help with pacing mid-activity; indoor rowing picks up VO2 Max and a power curve, though Garmin’s footnote says that needs a power-meter-equipped rowing machine. Rucking gets adjustable pack weight up to 100kg and GORUCK workouts on the watch. Navigation adds a perspective view and built-in routable maps.

Pro watches on an active inReach plan also get LiveTrack notifications delivered through the Garmin Messenger app over LTE, a new Garmin Locate feature that lets chosen contacts see your position, and satellite-delivered weather forecasts.
