Samsung’s One UI 9 Watch update, built on Wear OS 7, debuted in July alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Now the question for owners of older Galaxy watches is straightforward: will my watch get it?
Samsung hasn’t published an official eligibility list yet, but the company’s long-standing update policy covers four generations of Galaxy Watch hardware. Based on that policy, here are the Galaxy Watch models that should receive One UI 9 Watch.
One UI 9 Watch: Eligible Galaxy Watch Models
- Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic
- Galaxy Watch Ultra
- Galaxy Watch 7
- Galaxy Watch FE
- Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic
- Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
The Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 already ship with One UI 9 Watch out of the box, so they aren’t listed here as “update” recipients — they’re already running it.
Which Galaxy Watches Are Left Out?
The Galaxy Watch 4 series — including the Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic, and Watch 4 LTE — falls outside Samsung’s four-generation support window and is not expected to receive One UI 9 Watch. These models shipped with One UI Watch 3 (Wear OS 3) back in 2021, and Samsung’s support commitment has run its course. If you’re on a Watch 4, this is effectively end of the road for major Wear OS updates.
What’s New in One UI 9 Watch
The update leans heavily into Galaxy AI-powered health tracking. A Vitals Dashboard compares your sleep signals against your personal baseline and flags meaningful changes. Heart Rate Health Score gives a simplified cardiovascular wellness overview with personalized guidance.
Two new fitness tools round out the health features: Daily Cardio Load analyzes recent activity and estimated recovery times to suggest when to push harder or rest, while Fitness Index evaluates overall physical capability and provides progress reports.
Beyond health, One UI 9 Watch lets you activate Gemini by lifting your wrist to your mouth and speaking — no button press needed. Wear OS widgets are also refreshed for quicker glanceable information, and Samsung says app launch speed and background workout tracking are both faster.
Rollout Timeline
Internal testing on older Galaxy Watch models has been underway for some time, with the public rollout expected to begin in the coming weeks. Samsung may also open a One UI 9 Watch beta program later this month, though the company has historically restricted beta access to newer models in just two markets: South Korea and the United States.
