[Updated: March 12, 2020] Nokia Android 10 Update roadmap revealed; here’s the list of devices eligible for the upgrade

[Update: March 12, 2020] Juho Sarvikas has announced a refreshed Nokia Android 10 Update roadmap on Twitter. The delay seems to have been cause by the Novel Coronavirus which has impacted several countries.

The Nokia 2.2 update will be released later this month, while the following devices should get the update sometime in the end of Q1, 2020 (between the end of March or the beginning of April)

  • Nokia 2.3
  • Nokia 3.2
  • Nokia 4.2
  • Nokia 7.2
    Nokia 6.2
  • Nokia 3.1 Plus
  • Nokia 8 Sirocco

The Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus which were originally scheduled to be updated in Q1 2020, have now been moved to the second phase, i.e., Q2, 2020.

The Nokia Android 10 Update roadmap has been revealed. And it was announced on the same day that Google confirmed the name for the new OS.

Juho Sarvikas, CEO of HMD Global, posted the roadmap on Twitter. There are quite a few devices in the list, here’s how the rollout is planned.

The Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8.1 and the Nokia 9 PureView will be updated to Android 10 in Q4 2019, and according to the position indicated in the chart it could be released in mid Q4.

Q4 2019

  • Nokia 7.1
  • Nokia 8.1
  • Nokia 9 PureView

That will be followed by an early Q1 2020 update roll out for the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 7 Plus. A week or two later, the company plans to release the Android 10 Update for the Nokia 2.2, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.2 and the Nokia 4.2. The end of Q1 will bring the update for the Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus and the Nokia 8 Sirocco.

The final phase of the Nokia Android 10 Update roadmap will arrive in mid Q2 for the Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5.1 and the Nokia 1.

Though the Nokia Android 10 Update roadmap is impressive, there are a few phones missing from the list such as the Nokia 8, Nokia 5 (2017), and the Nokia 6. In fact, no device from 2017 is in the list.

Let’s take a look at when the eligible phones were launched and the Android version they shipped with.

  • Nokia 8.1 – December 2018 – Android 9.0 Pie
  • Nokia 9 PureView – February 2019 – Android 9.0 Pie

  • Nokia 2.2 – June 2019 – Android 9.0 Pie
  • Nokia 3.1 Plus – October 2018 – Android 8.1 Oreo
  • Nokia 3.2 – February 2019 – Android 9.0 Pie

Still, it’s good to see that HMD Global is planning to update almost every phone released in 2018.
