Samsung One UI is based on Android 9 Pie and aims to improve one handed controls

The new foldable screen tech wasn’t the only thing that Samsung announced at its Developer’s Conference. Say hello to Samsung One UI.

Samsung One UI
This is the new Android skin, which the company plans to use for its future devices. The South Korean electronics giant has completely revamped the current interface, Samsung Experience, with One UI. The replacement seems a lot cleaner, and just looks better.

The focus of Samsung One UI is simplicity. With phone displays becoming larger, it is now more difficult to use a device with one hand. Samsung is aiming to change this with a combination of buttons and gesture based navigation system.

The new skin will split the screen into a viewing area and an interaction area. Basically, the top half of the screen is the viewing area, while the rest of the screen forms the interaction area. And like the name suggests the interaction area will be used for navigating, responding to messages, etc., without having to reach for the top of the display for the quick settings panel.

Samsung One UI has Night Node built-in to reduce Bluelight levels, which in turn is good for the eyes. It is supposedly a Dark AMOLED theme, so it could also improve the battery life.

The Samsung One UI Beta Program is available in India, China, France, Germany, Poland, South Korea, Spain, UK, and USA.

Samsung One UI Release Date

The Samsung One UI Release Date is set for January 2019, and will include the Android 9 Pie Update for the Galaxy S9, S9 Plus and the Note 9.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 will run Samsung One UI, as will the Infinity Flex foldable phone, which is reportedly called the Samsung Galaxy F.
