The 3.5mm audio jack port in flagship smartphones is one of the controversial topics whenever a new flagship smartphone is announced by a major brand. OnePlus is the latest smartphone brand to get rid of the 3.5mm audio jack from their upcoming flagship device i.e. OnePlus 6T and obviously there is a large section of consumers who criticise the move for obvious reasons while the company defends the move with their own logic.

No Audio jack in Galaxy Note 10 or Galaxy S11

The latest brand to join this bandwagon appears to be Samsung which has resisted this move of getting rid of Audio jack till now, but a news report from ETNews Korea suggests that Samsung has finally made the decision and will be ditching the jack either with Galaxy Note 10 or Galaxy S11. This report still suggests that Samsung is going to keep the audio jack with their upcoming Galaxy S10 which is due in the next few months.

The report indicates that this decision will be applied from the model which will be released after autumn next year. As per the report, a component industry official said,” Samsung is considering removing the earphone jack from Note 10 or S11. The USB-C terminal will be there instead of the audio jack and a separate conversion jack will be provided for 3.5mm earphone users.”

Even though the trend of removing the audio jack gained steam after Apple launched the iPhone 7 series in 2016 without the audio jack by releasing the wireless earphone ‘AirPod’ at the time, yet Oppo Finder in 2012 was perhaps the first smartphone without a headphone jack & came with micro-USB headphones instead. After Apple’s attempt, Android smartphone brands followed such as Google with Pixel, Essential, few devices from Motorola.
