Huawei sub brand Honor is set to officially launch two new smartphones Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max on September 5 in China. These two devices are the successor of Honor 7X, which was launched last year in October. Announcement of the launch date comes from Honor official Weibo handle in the form of an event teaser featuring the Chinese brand ambassador of Honor along with the name of the devices and the launch date of 5th September.

Out of these two devices, Honor 8X Max is allegedly listed on Chinese certification site TENAA with design details and hardware specifications with model number ARE-AL00 featuring a big 7.12-inch full-HD+ (1080×2244 pixels) TFT display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio with a “waterdrop” notch that resembles the notch of Oppo F9.  The listing also indicates vertically aligned dual rear cameras and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It appears that Honor is finally targeting the Xiaomi Mi Max series smartphones with Honor 8X Max.

Honor 8X Max (ARE-AL00) specifications

The Honor 8X MAx as per the TENAA listing runs on Android 8.1 Oreo based operating system, powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The listing doesn’t reveal the make of the SOC and could be either of Kirin 710 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 or Snapdragon 660.

In terms of optics, the Honor 8X Max features dual rear camera module with a 16-MP primary sensor and a 2-MP depth sensor while on the front, it comes with 8MP snapper. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB. Sensors onboard the smartphone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, fingerprint sensor, and proximity sensor. It is backed by a 4,900mAh battery and weighs 210 grams.

We expect Honor 8X to feature similar hardware specifications with a smaller display with a slightly toned down hardware. AT the moment, we have no clue on the pricing of both the device and we will only know when the official launch happens in China next month. Stay tuned at Androidpure and we will keep you updated.
