Android is now 9. Happy birthday little green guy! The Linux kernel based mobile operating system, was originally released on September 23, 2008, before it was publicly available on the very first Android device, the HTC Dream.
Google is planning to celebrate the day, in a special way. The Mountain View company tweeted that it is “whipping up something sweet” for the occasion.
But this teaser image with KitKat, Marshmallow and Nougat is pretty vague (hey where’s Lollipop?) , so we are not really sure what it means. It is possible that there could be a special sale on Google Play. It has been a while, since the last $0.10 sale aka ten cent sale happened. In fact, the last one was from October 2015, almost a year ago.
Then again, we are sure if this is what it means. Maybe we could see the Pixel Launcher making its debut? It might be a good way to create some hype about the upcoming launch of the Pixel and Pixel XL, which is scheduled for October 4th.
