Samsung is stepping up its methods to help with the recall of its faulty Galaxy Note 7 phones. The new variants with safer batteries, will come with green battery indicators to differentiate them from unsafe devices. Normally the phones have white battery indicators, which has been part of Google’s Android UI design, since KitKat was released.

The news was reported by ZD Net, which says that the phones with the green battery bars, will be sold in South Korea, from September 19th, when the exchange program begins.

This is actually the third visual identification method, using which a user can find whether he/she owns a safe Note 7. The previous methods involved the retail box, the phone comes in. You can look for the Blue S on the box (As reported by The Verge), and/or a small black box below the bar code label.

Samsung is also prepping to roll out an OTA update, to restrict the Galaxy Note 7s battery to 60%. This move is also restricted to South Korea, and is set to occur automatically at 2:00 am, on September 21st, likely as a way to force users who may miss the exchange program, to get their devices returned to the company.

If you are unsure which Note 7 you have, power down the device immediately, and contact Samsung or the retailer you bought the phone from.
