Android Marshmallow is running on 10% of devices as of June 2016

Google has published its latest Android Distribution Numbers, and frankly the statistics are not impressive. Android Marshmallow is running on 10% of devices as of June 2016.

Android Distribution Numbers June 2016

This is a 2.5% increase from the 7.5% user base it had a month ago. It’s a bit disappointing that the latest operating system, runs on such a low number of devices, and that too with Android N just a few months away.

Many big OEMs including Huawei, Honor, Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus are yet to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for their flagship devices and best sellers like the Honor 5X, Redmi Note 3 and the OnePlus X. This is why the numbers are pretty low.

Sitting comfortably in first place is Android 5 Lollipop, with a total of 35.4% users.  Its numbers only fell by 0.2% in the last 30 days, and this is due to the fact that there are still many new devices being launched with the Operating System from 2014.

The second place is obviously held by KitKat with 31.6%, which fell by 0.9% from from 32.5. Third placed Jelly Bean, fell from 20.1% to 18.9%. Ice Cream Sandwich’s numbers fell by 0.1% while Gingerbread fell by 0.2%.
