Technical specifications of the LG G5, the upcoming 2016 flagship phone from the South Korean Electronics giant, have been leaked.

LG Logo

The phone will feature dual displays (like the LG V10), i.e., it will come with a secondary ticker display.

The primary display will be a 5.3-inch Quad HD 2560 x 1440 pixels, while the ticker display 1040 x 160 pixels. The LG G5 will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and is touted to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, with 3GB of RAM. The phone will have 32GB of internal storage, with no word about a micro SD slot.

The LG G5 will have a metal enclosure, and will come with a dual lens 16 megapixel rear camera, with support for 135-degree wide-angle focus. A square shaped portion housed between the two lenses, comprises of two LED Flash bulbs, an RGB sensor, and a laser auto-focus, which has become one of the signature features in LG’s flagship phones. The front camera on the LG G5 will be an 8 megapixel lens, similar to the one the G4 had.

A fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear, beneath the main camera. The phone will be backed by a 2800mAh battery, which is user removable. Rumours about a possible Iris scanner have been squashed in the leaked report.

The highlight of the LG G5, however is something called a “Magic Slot”, which is some form of a hardware expansion, which is likely a customizable accessory module. The report suggests it could feature cameras for action, 360 VR, party, or even an audio amplipfier or a physical keyboard.

The LG G5 is rumoured to be scheduled for a launch in Early Spring in 2016.
