Android 6.0 Marshmallow now runs on 0.3% of devices, and Lollipop climbs to 25.6% in the latest distribution stats

Android 6.0 Marshmallow, has officially made its debut in the Android Distribution Numbers on Google’s dashboard.

Android Distribution Stats November 2015

The new operating system which debuted in September, now runs on 0.3% of devices.

See the tiny sliver sitting between Froyo and Lollipop in the above chart? That’s Marshmallow saying hi. Its predecessor, Lollipop climbed to 25.6%, and now is the third most popular version of Android. KitKat still leads the race with 37.8%, and is followed by Jelly Bean which holds 29% of usage shares in the latest distribution stats.

Ice Cream Sandwich still runs on  3.3% of devices,  Gingerbread on 3.8%, and Froyo on 0.2%, and is on the brink of being dropped from the Dashboard.

Given that Marshmallow is mostly just available to the Nexus devices 5 and up, Android One devices, and very few OEMs have actually rolled out the update, 0.3% in just over a month is pretty impressive. There have been a few unofficial ports of the new version of Android 6.0, but that still amounts to a measly number which combined makes up for the week ending November 2nd. We will have to wait for a few months for Marshmallow to ascend the ladder, and make a real impression.
